Into the light, Staithes

Staithes is built into the side of a very steep hill so you are always going up - or down. The only level place is down on the harbour wall or the breakwaters protecting the village from the regular 'attacks' of the North Sea. There are little series of steps and slopes all over the place connecting the few streets and alleyways cutting through the village.

Oh, now, I like this very much, even down to the seagull on the chimney pot.
Lovely angle ... thought this looked very grainy in the thumb ... Now that would be an idea. richard

Great texture in the bricks
I'd forgotten about all these steps, perhaps with my "dicky" heart I'd better give this place a miss next time I am that way.
Love the composition David. The big contrast has left the sky a little weak but it's a small thing because the rest is so good
Reminds me of a scene from an old movie.
